A Few Things to Ask Yourself Before You Choose Your Wedding Venue

There are myriad factors that go in to choosing where you will have your wedding starting with the size of your wedding and your budget. Here are a few other questions to ask yourself as you begin to think about just where you want to have your Tennessee wedding!

Do you want a traditional ceremony?

What type of wedding do you and your fiancé envision yourselves having? Have you always known you would marry in your church? Dreaming of an outdoor wedding but not sure it’s in your budget? Unless you’re a church member a church wedding may not always be cheaper than another wedding ceremony venue. Think about what kind of wedding you want to have first and then see what creative options you or your planner can find that fit within your budget. A botanical garden may look more expensive at first, but will you save on flowers since everything is in bloom?

Do you want your reception at the same place as your ceremony?

If you have your heart set on a church ceremony, consider that there can be a lot of rules when it comes to having your reception there. Restrictions for everything from alcohol, dancing and music. If you do choose to have your ceremony and reception in different places make sure your guests have printed directions to get to the reception site. Remember, many of them are coming from out of town and may be completely unfamiliar with downtown Knoxville or Nashville.

What is MOST important to you?

Is it the food? If you have your heart set on a particular caterer you will want to be sure your venue allows them. Is it the photographs? Understand that some churches have photography restrictions, anything from no photographs at all to specific rules about where the photographer has to stand during the ceremony and if they can use a flash. Ask your caterer or your photographer what venues they recommend!

Is there someplace special to your family with room for a wedding?

Maybe your fiancé’s family has a beautiful piece of mountain property that the two of you have dreamed of using for your wedding and reception. Before you go full steam ahead take a few minutes and think through what it will take to have your event someplace not traditionally set up for weddings. Is there an event equipment rental company that will deliver to the site? What about bathrooms? Does your favorite caterer charge extra for not having access to a kitchen? Is there electricity on site?

These are just a few things to think about as you start to formulate a plan. A wedding planner can do wonders for finding ways to execute your vision within your budget. As soon as you have your date set contact us, we would love to meet with you and get your date booked!
